Reading: A Fun Preschool Activity
|
Reading is not only a fun preschool activity, but a learning one too. Many experts
claim the more you read to your child, the bigger the jump-start you give them.
If time allows for it, try to read to your child multiple times a day.
My daughter is now in preschool. We read one book after getting home from
school and one book before bed.
What I like about reading is that it is a relatively affordable preschool activity.
You can purchase books from a number of locations. We have hundreds of
books in our home. To keep costs low, I buy some used from yard sales, some
from the dollar store, and more expensive books from Amazon and Barnes and
Noble.
Here are some of the favorite books in our home. You can click on the links to
get more information on these books from Amazon.com.
This book is one of my favorites to read to my
daughter. The writing is great. You can’t help but get
excited when reading the words. This book follows
Alamo the alligator on his journey across Texas to find
water.
This book was sent home with my daughter from
preschool as part of their reading program. I had
never heard of it before, but I automatically fell in love
with it. Join Lloyd the llama has he learns about the
mamas of his animal friends.
I picked this book up used at a yard sale. When I
read it to my daughter, I loved it. It is a great book to
read anytime, but perfect before a family vacation. It
puts a unique summer spin on the night before
Christmas. You will love the rhymes and your child will
too!
We actually started reading Clifford books before watching the television show on PBS, but now my daughter loves both!
